A crew including 8 scouts and 4 adult leaders made their way to the famous Philmont Scout Ranch for a 7 day trek this July 16th. Starting at the Rayado Trailhead we hiked over 40 miles through the southern section of the ranch. The highlights were climbing the “Tooth of Time” Peak, Schaeffers Peak, and Urraca Mesa finally making our way to Clarks Fork. Apart from enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, we learnt to throw tomahawks, completed an obstacle course, rock climbing, a conservation project (extending a new trail), toured a forestry experiment with a State Ranger, and finally rode horses on a wrangling tour!
Everyone had a great time. It was a bitter-sweet goodbye, we hope to be back soon!! |
