In July of 2010, 12 scouts and 4 adults went out to the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota to the Charles L. Sommers Northern Tier National High Adventure Base. From the second they got there to the second they left, the 12 boys and 4 adults experienced a once in a lifetime trip. They met at 3:30 AM at the church and left to catch their flight at Laguardia Airport at 6:30 AM. They had a change over in Milwaukee and finally landed in Minneapolis, Minn at 9:50 AM. From there a bus to drive approximately 4 hours to Giants Ridge for Saturday night. They then had some fun the next morning playing disk golf at Giants Ridge. From there they went to the base where they did many events and slept the night. The next morning they set out on the water. There were two crews with 6 boys and 2 adults and 1 guide. The two groups would not see each other for the next 6 days. For days and 5 nights the boys canoed and portaged for over 50 miles. On Saturday the 24th they arrived back at Base Camp. They unpacked relaxed and the next morning at 5:00 AM they got back on the bus to catch there flight home. The 2 Crews were: Brian D, Zac C, Andrew M, Clay G, Joe M, Matt D, Mr. D, and Mr. Mc. The second crew was Mike A, Kevin A, Van B, Peter S, Sam M, Robert L, Mr. M and Mr. L. Thanks go out to all the adults especially their parents that helped with this trip. Also many thanks to the four adults who went on the trip and helped make it happen; Mr D, Mr L, Mr Mc, and a very special thanks to Mr. M for leading the planning for the whole trip. Those four adults put countless hours into the trip and without them and all the other adults who help out with the trip, there would have never been a trip like this. |
